During the summer of 2015, Cleantech Högdalen, together with local residents, established an urban farm in the green spaces between the industrial and residential areas in Högdalen. The city of Stockholm have been a great help to the project, contributing soil, a water tank that the city refills, and help with administration like the “user contracts” between the city and the urban farmers.
Around 20 local enthusiasts have signed up to get a plot in the Högdalen urban farm, and although we got off to a rather late start in the season, we have managed to construct fences, set up planting beds and planted seeds. We even got a small but delicious harvest this fall. And by the time spring arrives next year the urban farm will be ready and fully operational for the new season.
